Hi, I’m Alessandra.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Psychotherapist and Certified Sex Therapist with experience working with individuals, couples, families, children and teens in New York City schools, mental health clinics, and my private practice. I lend support for a variety of issues ranging from anxiety and depression to improving familial and intimate relationships. I believe that in different stages of our lives we are presented with overwhelming challenges that can leave us feeling powerless. I firmly believe that we all wield unique strengths and resilience that can help us overcome such challenges. Therapy is a powerful tool to help identify and make use of them. This then allows us to regain control of our lives and strengthen healthy relationships. Being listened to and understood by a caring professional in a confidential and safe space can bring tremendous relief from emotional conflicts and pain. This type of therapeutic space can help develop a stronger self and promote constructive ways to live a more fulfilling and happy life.

In my work I use a collaborative, emotionally focused, strength-based approach; I strive to provide a warm, inclusive, non-judgmental and compassionate space where we can begin to gently get in touch with your thoughts, feelings and beliefs. I understand how difficult it can be to share personal experiences and feelings. As a professional, I consider it a privilege to be part of one’s journey. A journey in which I participate and provide a space where we can explore new paths.

I have a master’s in Social Work from NYU and a Post-Graduate training Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. I also hold a Certificate in Couples and Family Therapy from the Ackerman Institute and a Certificate of Completion in the LIFT Program (LGBTQ Institute For Family Therapy) from the LGBTQ Center in NY. Lastly, I have completed training in Sex Therapy and Sexuality from the Buehler Institute and hold a AASECT Sex Therapist Certificate devoted to the promotion of sexual health and advancement of the fields of sexual therapy, counseling, and education.

My diverse background has allowed me to be culturally sensitive and comfortable in my work with children, teens, individuals, families and couples of various races, ethnicities, genders and sexual orientations. My passion lies in working with people struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, body image, breakdowns in communication, relationship difficulties, intimacy, gender-related issues and sexuality.

I offer therapy in English, Italian and French.

My office is currently offering teletherapy due to Covid-19.
